MOBILE MILL IN-SCHOOL FIELD TRIP
A custom-built mobile stone mill that travels
to schools for hands-on education
Seeing grain flow through the mill and transform into fresh flour draws a tangible connection between a stalk of wheat and a loaf of bread. As a farmer and miller for the day, students explore the journey that our locally grown wheat takes from a seed at planting, to becoming nutritious and delicious whole grain stone-milled flour.
As whole wheat is served in schools, supplying experiential education to support the student's understanding is crucial in learning how to make life-long healthy whole grain choices.
With a bilingual curriculum tailored to grade, students learn about planting, harvesting, threshing, winnowing and milling, with or without a school garden.
