Hey there, flour power champions!

We’re beyond excited to share some BIG news: Honoré Farm and Mill is building a granary where grain storage, stone milling, and fulfillment will all come together under one roof on a historic Marin ranch! Picture it—a bustling, vibrant millhouse breathing life back into Northern California’s food system, just like in the early 1900s when every town had a stone mill. Back then, there were 23,000 mills across the country ensuring fresh, local flour for everyone. Now, we’re on a mission to bring that legacy back—and we need YOU to help make it happen!

Why is this so important?

The USDA just approved GMO wheat in the U.S. for the first time, genetically engineered to tolerate glufosinate—a pesticide FIVE times more toxic than glyphosate, the main ingredient in RoundUp - yikes! Soon enough, trace amounts of glufosinate will be in every bag of GMO flour sold in the US. This pesticide has been banned in Europe since 2013. At the same time, diet-related illnesses like obesity and diabetes are surging. White flour plays a huge role in this because it spikes blood sugar levels, and shockingly, in our experience, 90% of students in California’s public schools don’t understand that refined white flour foods negatively impact their health.

That’s where we come in. Honoré’s granary and stone mill will provide and educate our community about wholesome, organic and healthy flour from heirloom grains that nurture the land, sequester carbon, and fuel our bodies the way nature intended. It’s a triple win: healthier people, healthier planet, and delicious food!

Why Now?

We’ve outgrown our current milling capacity, and the few alternative partners can’t keep up with the growing demand. Schools and businesses are lining up to get Honoré’s nutrient-rich flour. Mill Valley Pasta Co. can’t get enough of our flour, and more school cafeterias are eager for whole grain goodness. But we need our own space to keep up!

Your Impact

By joining this Barn Raising Campaign, you’ll be part of something truly transformative:

  • Educate more people on site at the Granary.

  • Serve more schools and businesses with fresh, healthy flour.

  • Create local farming jobs and expand heirloom grain production.

  • Boost biodiversity with chemical-free wheat varieties.

  • Cut carbon emissions by keeping everything local.

  • Provide a healthier alternative to mass-produced white flour.

The Big Picture
This isn’t just about a barn—it’s about rebuilding Northern California’s small grain economy, supporting climate-smart farming, and empowering our community to choose health over highly processed food. And guess what? We already have a 48-inch stone mill waiting to be put to work!

Our goal is $25,000 to go towards fitting out the barn with ventilation and electricity and ensure it is properly permitted.

Every donor will be recognized as a cornerstone of this project. If your heart is set on making a difference in healthy food choices and supporting education, this is your moment to shine!

Your support means the world to us—and to every student, family, and farmer we serve. Let’s raise this barn together! 🌾
